Kanute tackles first IM 70.3

Corbin and Kanute head to Puerto Rico for IM 70.3

Linsey Corbin and Ben Kanute headed to beautiful Puerto Rico for the early season IM 70.3. Ben Kanute raced his first IM 70.3 event, finishing in 3rd place. Linsey put in a hard effort, finishing with a top-10 in 7th place.

Ben put the experience of his first IM 70.3 event into words.

"My goal going into the race was to be strong the entire day. I was able to use a bit of speed to get off to a fast start in the swim, settle in, until I ended up about 10 seconds or so off the front. I led for the first 20 miles on the bike to the first turn around, just holding a steady pace. I let Andy Potts take over from there, and we were joined a bit later by two others (one being the eventual winner Taylor Reid). I let them set the pace and just rode as easy as I could while staying near them. This is a new distance for me, and I did not want to blow up. I ran in second with 1 mile to go when Andy caught me. I hung on until the last few hundred meters where he dropped me on an incline. Happy to finish up strong and on the podium for my debut race!"
