Our photographer Dan King donned his waterproofs to capture a torrid edition of Gent-Wevelgem
“I think today might have been even colder than Yorkshire in 2019.” – Mads Pedersen
“It was a good group actually but people were not working 100% together so that was a pity, otherwise I think it would have made it over the Kemmel the second time and then the race would have looked different. The cooperation was not super and that’s how it is.”
“I tried to jump across in the final of Gent-Wevelgem before, but that time had another ending…”
“The last 15kms was attacking attacking attacking. I had to choose the moment when I was alone. I was waiting until around 2kms to go to bridge across. I managed to do it but I was really on the limit when I made it to those guys and I didn’t have a lot left for the sprint. It’s a pity to miss the podium but that how it is.”
“I wasn’t cramping, but I just didn’t have more. The legs were completely empty. It was a tough day and the weather conditions were really tough also. The tank was just empty.”
