Giro Rosa – stage 2: Watch replay

The mountains are calling

The peloton endured another hot Italian summer’s day as they ventured west, to the town of Viù, for stage 2 of the Giro Rosa. Although today offered the shortest road stage of the tour, it was by no means easy. The climbing started almost immediately as the peloton ascended Colle del Lys, a category 2 climb, reaching the GPM at just 15.7 km. Once over the top, they descended back down to the valley and looped back to Viù for a tough uphill finish.

Length: 78.3 km/ 48.7 miles

Start: Viù

Finish: Viù

Fact of the day: Colle de Lys is considered a symbol of the resistance movement that occurred in the Susa and Lanzo valleys during World War II. 2,104 partisans died here and they are remembered on the first Sunday of July at the Museum of the "Resistenza".
