A big day out
Stage 8- the longest stage of the Giro Rosa. Starting in Vittorio Veneto, the 133.3 km route included 2 sprint points and 2 GPMs on its way to the finishing town of Maniago. The toughest challenge, a category 2 GPM, came almost midway into the race at 61 km, but the climbing wasn’t over yet, with another categorised climb at 96 km. With only 2 stages remaining, some riders will be counting down the days, while others will be counting down the opportunities, hoping to make their mark on the 30th edition of the Giro Rosa.
Length: 133.3 km / 82.8 miles
Start: Vittorio Veneto
Fact of the day: 40km from today's finishing town of Maniago, lies the 16th century Villa Manin. Napoleon Bonaparte once resided here, and it is here that he signed the Treaty of Campoformio.
