A behind the scenes look of a wet, cold race for the first day in Yorkshire.
It was a sprint ending for day one, and Trek-Segafredo – without sprinter Letizia Paternoster who did not take the start to illness – finished safely in the bunch.
With just over 30 kilometers remaining, the team began an aggressive launch of attacks to try and make something happen, but nothing stuck.
Tomorrow’s second and final stage will see some tough terrain and should shake out the general classification.
The crowds were phenomenal! We were really really grateful that everyone, despite the weather, was out giving us encouragement. For me personally, I felt better last week in the Ardennes races; I was struggling a bit today with the cold. Pleased anyway - we had a good race as a team. I will see how tomorrow goes, I would love to be in the shape to be aggressive, but it might be survival. We'll see.
