Edward 'Looney' Theuns came home to Trek-Segafredo for the 2019 season. The Belgian rode with the team in 2016 and 2017 but opted to pen a deal with Team Sunweb for 2018, a move that did not work out for team or rider, and they mutually agreed to terminate the contract a year early. When Trek-Segafredo offered to take Eddie back, he didn’t hesitate. The homecoming was a happy reunion for both parties. Edward, a capable sprinter and adept classics rider, gave a boost to the classics team, and he finished the season with two victories, effectively ending a winless drought of nearly two years.

"Think less, live more." I believe it was the motto of Wouter Weylandt if I'm not mistaken... It's a good one to always keep in mind.

Winning Primus Classic. It was a great day for me with awesome teamwork behind it.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who gave it?

"In cycling, you have to do a lot for it, but you also have to leave a lot for it." This was advice from Gustave Verstrepen, one of my mentors when I started cycling. He gave it to me the day I went to take my first license. He was definitely right, and I tried to follow it up!

The Bontrager lights.
