Lidl-Trek heads to Giro d’Italia Women with stage-hunting ambitions

Youth and experience combine in a team built to animate the race

Lidl-Trek heads to the Giro Donne with winning on the mind – especially when it comes to stages. Expect to see our riders on the offensive, animating the race, and hunting down opportunities in the breakaways. With a strong mix of climbing ability, tactical depth, and raw grit, this international squad is ready to take on every kind of terrain.

While stage wins are the core focus, the team is also backing Shirin van Anrooij as she tests herself in the General Classification. With support from experienced teammates, she’ll have the freedom to see how far she can go.

Ina’s introduction

“With Anna, our focus is on starting the race strongly in the time trial. It’s a discipline where she really excels, and we’re confident she can deliver a solid performance to set the tone for the week. From there, we’ll be looking for opportunities, whether that’s in breakaways or aggressive racing, where she can use her strengths to go for a result.

“For Bella and Fleur, this is about development. It’s their first major stage race, so the priority is for them to gain experience, build confidence, and learn from the more seasoned riders around them. There’s no pressure on them in terms of results. That said, if the opportunity presents itself to join a break or contest a stage, they’ll absolutely have the freedom to go for it.

Shirin will be targeting the General Classification. She’s had a strong comeback after her surgery and has continued to progress well. We believe she’s taken another step forward, and this race is a great chance to test herself over multiple stages. She’ll be supported by Spratty, who brings invaluable experience and will play a key role in guiding her through the race. But at the same time, everyone has the flexibility to take their own chances if the situation allows.

Lucinda is returning after a minor health setback last month, but she’s trained consistently and is coming into the race in good shape. She’ll take on a leadership role on the road: helping with positioning, making tactical calls, and keeping the group cohesive. And, as always, she’s a real threat in breakaways thanks to her race smarts and strength.

Lauretta is a vital all-rounder for us. She’ll be a key support rider throughout the week, contributing wherever needed; whether it’s on the climbs, in the crosswinds, or during lead-outs. She also has the freedom to go up the road if the right opportunity presents itself.

“Overall, the team’s goal is to race aggressively and target stage wins, while supporting Shirin’s ambitions in the GC. We want to be active, animated, and present at the front of the race.”
