The Lidl-Trek Showdown

Just four seconds separate teammates Mattias Skjelmose and Mads Pedersen as the duel for the win at the Tour of Denmark

The final road stage of the Tour of Denmark began in Kalundborg, where local heroes Mads Pedersen and Mattias Skjelmose were mobbed by local fans desperate for an autograph on their Lidl merch. After the roll out the race passed by Holbæk, the old hometown of Mads, before making its way to the finish circuit in Bagsværd. The Lidl-Trek riders managed to stay out of the wind, saving energy, whilst the breakaway was reeled in. Heading into the sprint, Mads was well placed and powered to a second place, earning him six bonus seconds and moving him closer to race leader and teammate Mattias Skjelmose, who won the Queen Stage yesterday.

The last time the pair rode the same time trial was in the Tour de France, when Mattias bested Mads by 10 seconds. With just four seconds separating the Danish duo ahead of the 16km time trial it’s going to be incredibly close tomorrow. Whatever the result, we’re excited to see them both fly on the Speed Concept!
