Relive Emil Johansson’s emotional Joyride win

One of the most emotional victories for the best to ever ride slopestyle

Emil Johansson’s win at Red Bull Joyride was one of the most emotional of his career. The Swede has won a record 14 Crankworx slopestyle titles — including, now, four in Whistler — but he hadn’t laid down a clean run since Crankworx Innsbruck in June 2024, and hadn’t won since Joyride in 2023, besieged by injuries and surgeries for two years. He was the first rider to drop into the weather-delayed competition Sunday, and he laid down a scintillating score of 91.00 that no one could touch.

“It feels amazing to be back honestly. This past year has been nothing less than really, really hard,” Johansson told Caroline Buchanan after the race. “I underwent four surgeries. It’s just been really tough. So to be back here means a lot to me. And just to be part of it makes me really happy.”

Bravo to the best to ever do it. What a legend.
